Directed by Tatianna Steiner and choreographed alongside Tether Dance Project, Socks investigates the intersection between authenticity, adulthood and childhood with a cast of six dancers. In this 12-minute piece, Tatianna explores her intangible connection with knee-high colorful socks and utilizes them as a prop and costume piece with body percussion, weight sharing, and floorwork. Socks is one of six pieces showcased in the multi-bill evening of Portals.
Portals features the work of a collective of six Asian American femme dance makers. Centered around the theme of transition, this mixed program highlights their varied stories, each piece probing what it means to be at the crossroads of change. The performances are presented by Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center and Asian Improv aRts, and supported by UC Berkeley's Division of Arts and Humanities and Asian American Research Center.
Performed by Amber Goring, Emma Lowe, Ella Wright, Vivien Terrell, Tatianna Steiner and Teo Lin-Bianco
