Excerpts from Socks
A work-in-progress performance, Excerpts from Socks, set as an initial preview to the official premiere at Dance Mission Theater.
Soulmate/Stranger
The second iteration of Soulmates, Soulmate/Stranger expands into a trio and unravels the cyclical nature of love and harm—how the wounds we carry become the weight we pass on. Through shifting partnerships, tension-filled lifts, and unraveling gestures, the piece traces the quiet echoes of past mistreatment as they ripple through new connections. The movement oscillates between tenderness and resistance, questioning whether love is a place of refuge or repetition. Soulmate/Stranger asks: When does a lover become a stranger? And when does a stranger become the reflection of everything we’ve left behind?
Strides
Strides is a dynamic ensemble work exploring the journey of growing up and finding one’s place in the world. As Tether Dance Company’s first major piece, it weaves together improvisation, dancer-sourced choreography, poetry, and voice text to create a rich multimedia experience. The movement is raw and expressive, reflecting the uncertainty, discovery, and resilience of personal evolution. Conceived in December 2023, Strides premiered at UC Berkeley’s Zellerbach Hall in May 2024 as part of the AFX-[M]ovement and Danceworx showcases, marking the company’s debut on a large stage.

The Closet
You have to be quiet while the adults are talking.
The Closet utilizes jazz, contemporary and modern dance fusion to explore feelings of isolation, conformity, and feeling shut out from the world. Throughout the song, “The Adults are Talking”, dancers enter complex floorwork, patterned movement, impressive lifts, stunts, and dynamic partner work.

A World of Welcome
A World of Welcome is a contemporary ensemble piece that captures the bittersweet transition from the familiar rhythms of college into the vast unknown. Through sweeping lifts, grounded gesture phrases, and shifting formations, the choreography embodies the push and pull of change—the tension between holding on and letting go. The movement flows between moments of collective support and solitary exploration, reflecting the uncertainty, excitement, and quiet longing that come with stepping into a new chapter of life.

To the Soulmates I Once Called Strangers
The first iteration of Soulmates, To the Soulmates I Once Called Strangers, explores the fleeting yet profound intimacy found in the arms of a stranger. Inspired by Ocean Vuong’s Seventh Circle of Earth, the piece moves through tenderness, urgency, and the quiet ache of connection that exists outside of time. Through weight-sharing, breath-driven movement, and improvisational storytelling, the dancers trace the delicate line between solitude and togetherness. This work honors the love that lingers in passing moments—ephemeral, yet deeply imprinted on the body.
